Before 1951 there were only four bells, but as a memorial to Mr and Mrs JG Shields the old monastic bell believed to date back to 1300, was recast in 1950 by John Taylor & Co of Loughborough. Two new smaller bells were cast at the same time and installed bringing the peel of the church to six. The bell tower has three usable levels above the main body of the church with the ringing chamber next door to the vestry, the photos below are what you would find on each level.

The six bells each play a different note with No 1 being the lightest, through to No 6 being the heaviest, weighing around half a ton.

The bells are a beautiful tradition at a wedding ceremony. The service of the bell ringers may be booked with Rev. Canon Sue Field when you are discussing the details of your ceremony. They are a lovely way of making your day extra special.
