Breedon Lives

People have worshipped, celebrated major events and been buried at Breedon since the Iron Age. You can hear the stories of some of those associated with Breedon, including St Hardulph, Frances Shirley and Thomas Allt, in our virtual tour ; look out for the yellow circles.

Many of the graves in the churchyard are marked with slate quarried from Swithland in nearby Charnwood or from Wales, which means they can still be read. A plan of the ‘old’ churchyard (in use up until c.1905) and a grave index can be found here: If you want information on later graves, please contact the church warden and we will try to help you with your enquiry.
A tour of the churchyard, telling the stories of some of those buried in the old churchyard, can be found here. Some of the lives of those connected with the church have been researched further and if you are interested to read about any of these key figures in Breedon history then please click to download extended details.
